THE VINEYARDS

Our small vineyard parcels sit along the steeply terraced, south-facing slopes of the River Sil, connecting the wine regions of Ribeira Sacra and Valdeorras. Here, the rugged terrain demands a careful tending of each vine, a practice which has been coined “viticultura heroica,” or “heroic viticulture,” by those who live and work in the region.

The steep slate slopes of the region provide excellent growing conditions for the indigenous varieties we cultivate, providing just the right amount of stress to the vines while allowing for adequate drainage and retention of heat from the sun.

Each site is tended to with meticulous care by our dedicated team. All of our vineyards are tilled, pruned, and harvested by hand, as the steep slopes of the region do not allow for mechanized harvests.
